Disney’s “Moana 2” dominated December, adding $604 million to its gross for a cumulative $904 million. The animated sequel is on track to become the third global release of 2024 to break the $1 billion mark, joining “Inside Out 2” ($1.7 billion) and “Deadpool & Wolverine” ($1.34 billion).

Delivering another huge boost for musicals, Universal's Wicked took home the award for best cinematic and box office achievement at the 2025 Golden Globes after wowing audiences across the globe over the year-end holidays.

The newly-added award honors the "highest-earning and/or most-viewed films that have gained extensive global audience support and produced exceptional creative content."
