The Virginia Lottery said a man from Ashburn and his aunt, who lives in Emporia, Va., will split $1 million after they won Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle. Miran Smith gave Geraldine Smith the lottery ticket as a gift.

“I did it!” Brian Morgan excitedly told her. Morgan matched all five numbers in the Nov. 27 drawing to win a total of $1,610,754 from a Cash 5 with EZ Match game, the Virginia Lottery said in a Jan. 6 news release. “I’ve looked at it about 50 times!” the happy winner told lottery officials when claiming his prize.

A Virginia man earned some major brownie points with his aunt after gifting her a New Year’s Millionaire Raffle ticket that lottery officials said won a $1 million top prize.

According to Virginia Lottery, the $1 million prize was part of the New Year's Millionaire Raffle. Five tickets were sold at grocery stores, convenience stores and gas stations across the commonwealth. Those businesses include: Ticket #068764 (bought at McNair Farms Sunoco, 13470 Coppermine Road, Herndon)

The Caroline County woman, who usually plays the Print ‘N Play Bingo game two or three times a week, tried a 50X the Money Scratcher game instead and won $200,000, the Virginia Lottery said in a Dec. 28 post on X, formerly Twitter.
