AUSTIN - The Texas Lottery has added extra security measures to its self-service vending machines. Lottery players will be required to scan their ID at self-service vending machines. It is part of the effort by the Texas Lottery Commission to make sure players are 18 years old or older.

The Texas Lottery Commission has recently introduced a new step for players purchasing games at self-service vending machines.

After Dec. 30, 2024, all self-service lottery ticket machines began requiring age verification via ID scanners that are compatible with most state-issued IDs.
