Sting has made it clear that Sean 'Diddy' Combs' controversial legal troubles do not change his feelings about Every Breath You Take. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times on November 11, the Police frontman said he sees no reason to let the song’s connection with Diddy affect its legacy.

Despite the allegations against Diddy, "Every Breath You Take" remains untainted. "It's still my song," Sting said of the Police track, which Diddy famously sampled in his 1997 song 'I'll Be Missing You.

Sting doesn’t feel that the disturbing allegations of sexual misconduct facing Sean “Diddy” Combs “taint” the English rocker’s hit, “Every Breath You Take.” Written by Sting, 73, for his former band The Police, the 1983 track was famously sampled by Diddy, 55, in his 1997 song “I’ll Be Missing You” with Faith Evans.

Combs released “I’ll Be Missing You” 14 years later as a tribute to the Notorious BIG, who was murdered in a drive-by shooting on 9 March 1997. He also interpolated the chorus, which was sung by Biggie’s wife Evans.
