Lenny Randle, a big league player for 12 seasons who spoke five languages, performed standup comedy, was dubbed “The Most Interesting Man in Baseball” and was suspended for punching his Texas Rangers manager,

Pitcher Milt Wilcox had thrown behind Randle, who decided to improvise his retaliation. The bunt was a beauty, Wilcox fielded it, and Randle, then playing for the Texas Rangers, veered off the base paths to body-check him into oblivion.

Randle, along with being known as a member of the first Texas Ranger squad in 1972, was well known for his multiple skirmishes as a Ranger. In 1974 during a game against Cleveland, Randle was hit by a pitch thrown by Cleveland’s Matt Wilcox.

Lenny Randle, a 12-year major league veteran who once punched his manager and also got down on his hands and knees on the infield grass to blow a baseball foul during a game, died Dec. 29. He was 75.

Former Texas Rangers infielder Lenny Randle has died. The National Baseball Hall of Fame and his former team, the Seattle Mariners, mourned his death Monday night with posts on X.
