Budget airline Wizz Air on Friday reported a 1.9% increase in passenger numbers for December on an annual basis, but capacity declined as it continued to ground aircraft due to problems with Pratt & Whitney engines.

Wizz Air Holdings reported an increase in passenger numbers but lower seating capacity in December. The eastern Europe-focused budget airline on Friday said it carried 5.1 million passengers last month, up 1.9% compared with December of 2023. On a rolling 12-month basis, passenger numbers rose 3.9% to 62.7 million.
