Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey signed a law to enhance protections for users of payment apps like Venmo and PayPal.

Gov. Maura Healey pledged that the cost of running emergency shelters housing migrants and locals would decrease from its historic levels and pushed back on conservatives who have labeled Massachusetts a “sanctuary state” harboring illegal immigrants.

The Boston Globe reports Governor Maura Healey ordered an 11% increase in base salaries. This could push the pay for Healey to just under $244,000 a year. House Speaker Ron Mariano and Senate President Karen Spilka would also see salaries of about $224,000 annually.

Thanks to the various pay increases due in 2025, the total pay for each of Massachusetts’ six statewide constitutional officers and the Legislature’s leading Democrats will all top $200,000 for the first time.
